Update for young peace marchers April 29

Correction: we're meeting at 22nd and Broadway, not
20th, and will be part of the NYSPC Books Not Bombs
contingent (NOT the ISO College Not Combat one ;)

DSA Presents: Our Colombian Sister City

Ithaca Democratic Socialists of America Presents #250:

"Dana Brown, coordinator of the Committee on US-Latin American
Relations tells Wayles Browne about the sister city relationship
between Cahibio in Colombia and several small cities in Central New
York. They learn from us, and we learn from them.

DSA Presents: Farm Workers & Immigrant Rights

Ithaca Democratic Socialists of America Presents #249:

"Baldemar Velasquez, President of the Farm Labor Organizing
Committee, tells Mary Jo Dudley about his childhood working in the
fields and the experiences that led him to organize farm workers. His
union introduced the concept of three-part agreements that involve
not only farm workers and growers but also the corporations that buy
and process the crops. He also explains the need to defend the rights
of immigrant workers.

volunteer effort to address some of the medical needs of the
uninsured. It's not a solution, but a much-needed stopgap measure.

Health Care Hearing Pt. 1, Ch 13

HEALTH CARE NOW! Series on Channel 13:

As part of a national movement initiated by Healthcare -NOW to achieve a Medicare For ALL , Single Payer Universal Health Care Plan by 2009, we sponsored a citizen/congressional hearing on March 18th. This 4 part series will cover over 40 speakers giving testimony representing business, health care providers, politicians, social agencies, youth, seniors and many others being impacted by our current system. The hearing was co-sponsored by Tompkins County Health Care Taskforce, League of Women Voters, Tompkins County & Cortland Co., Finger Lakes Citizen Action & Social Justice Council of First Unitarian Church Ithaca.
